Forbes Silver Co. was formed as the Hollowware division of Meriden Britannia Co. in 1894 and was part of the original International Silver Co.

I've seen lots of old Forbes work. The mark may have been used for quite some years after that time.

Please let us all know if you do find anything.

But, I might suggest that you look for Cocktail Shakers instead of Martini Shakers. While Martini is a form of cocktail, many different kinds of drinks were made in Cocktail Shakers, and you may find more information.

Sometimes just a slightly different direction in a search can bring loads of information when the original search yielded nothing. I learned that a long time ago when I first started researching on the internet, and it is more so today! Unfortunately, although I have one cocktail pitcher (not shaker), I have not yet bothered to research it.

It seems like the golden age of the cocktail shaker was the 1920s & 1930s, when countless different forms and designs were produced, ranging from totally plain bodies to figural airplanes. Most of the time there would have been a set of glasses to accompany the shaker.

That was my feeling, too, Paul, based on what I know of the era, but not necessarily based on actual information that I have obtained. It's like recognizing "styles". And cocktails were definitely a style of the 20's, 30's and 40's. By the 50's, they were still in style but the popularity was waning fast!
