Hi Everyone

I know that this is going to be an odd question but, I have no idea where else to ask.

This cocktail shaker was made around 1928 by Wallace Bros.

The head of the rooster fits inside of the body and is Stuck, Really Stuck!

I suspect that it has Never been removed because the shaker is in Mint condition, no dents, nicks, Nothing to show that it was ever used so, I'm guessing that it is stuck because of age.

Does anyone have an idea as to how I can get it apart?

Thank You,
Brenda

It may be also that it was never washed out the last time it was used. I would try soaking it in really hot water - also try to get some hot water inside through the beak. Hot water might loosen any old dried Tom Collins etc residue and also cuase the metal in the lid to expand slightly.

Modern bartenders also tend to give the lid a gentle tap to loosen it before serving - but I would only try this as a very last resort.

Assuming the top fits over a lip on the bottom, I would suggest wrapping the bottom in a cold wet cloth or towel and holding the top under hot running water, so the top will expand while the bottom contracts - this should loosen the top. I have often resorted to hot running water to loosen tight metal jar lids - it is an old "home remedy." If that doesn't work, you might try it the other way, as -- although unlikely -- the top might fit the other way.

If the excellent suggestions above do not work, you may want to begin investigating what is holding the pieces together. Sometimes dealers and collectors glue lids on items. Getting into this might be the solution. The things used include plain glue, florists clay, superglue. Hope the hot water works.
