In 1974 I bought a gold plated complete set of cutlery in a chest called I believe Love, but it is nothing like the patterns I'm seeing.

I bought it through Eatons of Canada. I can find nothing on Rogers Bros. having produced gold plated flatware?

Can you help me?

Thanks Julia

There is an 1847 Rogers pattern called 'Love' patented in 1970. It is also known as 'Precious Flower'. In my experience, this tends to be a rather hard to find one. It is about the only pattern to acknowledge the trends of the 60's.

During the 60's and 70's, International Silver had a policy of offering some of its top of the line patterns, in 1847 and DeepSilver, in various types of gold plate. Some were completely gold plated, some only as highlights. From what I have seen, gold plating was never a very viable medium for silverplate. The practice appears to have been abandoned in the early 80's.
