I'm at a loss again. Can not locate this mark in ANY book I've got, nor can I find it on the Internet.

Also, what is the proper term to describe the "bird" and the "*".

ANY assistance would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you.

I have seen it attributed to Tiffany & Young as a variation on the usual T & Y, but have nothing to substantiate the claim. Perhaps Mr. Hood, our Tiffany forum moderator, can confirm it.

The "bird" represents the American Federal Eagle, the "*" is an etoile or asterisk. The usual way to read the mark would be: "Y and T, eagle, star." Simple and straight forward.

Thanks for that information, Swarter.

Someone found me this item, identical touchmark, but they call it "coin silver". My sauce ladle has no "Anglo American" or any other marks other than those noted above.

Flatware is NOT my forte. Is this, perhaps, coin silver? Mine is quite sturdy (impossible to bend). I just "assumed" that it was silverplated, as if it were sterling, it would be marked "STERLING".

Please, correct any mis-assumptions I'm under.
