Does anyone know what maker signed my piece? It's a large, heavy, thick glass champagne cooler/ice bucket with a wide silverplate rim, slender handle, silverplate cylindrical bottle holder, and pierced baffle plate on legs in the bottom of the bucket. The mark, located under the handle hinge on the rim, is H&H with a small eagle device to the right. The four marks are each in a depressed cartouche, like British sterling hallmarks. Any info would be appreciated.

Jim

I'm not totally certain, but your mark may be Hukin & Heath, a Birmingham company founded c.1855 and in business until at least the 1930s

Thanks for your help. Now that you call my attention to it, it seems very likely. Isn't that the firm that produced many of the Christopher Dresser designs? Boy, now I reall AM excited. Do you know of any monographs about their designs, or perhaps pattern-books?

Thanks,
Jim
