on the bottom of a wine goblet are these marks;
the number (37) in an oval,the name ERCUIS, the ercuis hallmark, and the number (7) in a square. can anyone give me the meaning of the numbers 37 & 7 ? these golbets appear quite old with much use and have a name engraved on the side of the bowl. in four years i have not been able to date or trace these goblets. any help out there?

The GOLDSMITHERY Of ERCUIS

Born at Thury-under-Clermont in 1814, Adrien Pillon is named priest of Ercuis at 23 years. He finds the village in ruin and without resources. In 1847, he creates two schools. It publishes a periodical and a illustrated almanac, "the Rose tree of Marie". He builds a small castle, which will become in 1970, a convalescent home. Not wanting to leave his parishioners in misery, he gets an old farm where he creates in 1866, a manufacture of liturgical objects, chalices, ciboria...

In 1870, it is in bankruptcy, he is dismissed. Fortunately a few years later, the venture is revived by Mr. George Mas, glass cutter in Clichy. The company turns to arts of the table; coffee and tea sets silver plated metal or, silver cutlery massive. He opens stores in Paris, in province and abroad. The mark "Ercuis" and its punch "the Centaur" are universally known. Ercuis equips the steamers "Island with France", "Normandy" and "Town of Algiers" of 1922 to 1937. In 1962, Ercuis provides its goldsmithery of table to "France" and "Orient-Express train". Today, the tradition is perpetuated thanks to the work of craftsmen and creators.

The above is clearly a poor translation. Here it is in French:

L'ORFEVRERIE D'ERCUIS
