Hi....I need some help with the marks on a silent butler I came across at a yard sale. I do not at this time have the ability to include a picture so I will describe the marks as best as I can. There is a shield shape and within the shield are the letters FSCo, with the F in the middle, the S to the left and the C with a little o in the C to the right. To the left and outside the shield there is what looks like a bird with wings and to the right and outside of the shield there is what looks like a unicorn. Above and outside of the shield is a crown. Below and outside of the shield there is what looks like a sideways c and the number 8 and then below this is the letter F. Any help with these marks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I believe the marks are those of the Friedman Silver Company of Brooklyn. Founded in 1908, they made better quality holloware, often with pseudo-colonial and Dutch pastoral designs. They were bought out by Gorham in 1960. There have been several posts about the company, so you might want to do a search.
