Greetings, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is beneficial to polish silverplated items. In so many examples I've seen overpolishing has definitly done its damage to many pieces. I have 3 high quality pieces that I am scared to death to polish. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.....Roger IP: Logged |

When I purchase an item, I polish it once and once only. It then goes into a glass case which stays shut so no air comes into contact with the objects. I believe it is air that causes silver/silverplate to tarnish so quickly. IP: Logged |

It is not air that causes tarnish, it is certain elements that can be in the air (or water or food) such as sulphur that cause tarnish. If you do a search on "tarnish" you will find all kinds of great discussions on this. IP: Logged |
