I've been watching this and hope the link works. I can't quite make out the marks but can't find anything in Tardy to match. Also, the numbers don't look right to me.

Any comments?

Swedish parcel gilt coin silver beaker, circa 1689, marked under base with master's initials C.A.C,#3,letter "A" for the date1689 and another two marks; it was a pair of beakers that came together from Ukraine a long time ago, another one was sold and I found it on Ebay with item#916173493 and the same dimensions. I saw this also and think it is an example of the silver made in the German states late in the 19th century. Hanau, perhaps. Does anyone have the book to check?

thanks for fixing the link Scott. Actually, the other one referenced in this listing (916173493) is still available and makes an interesting comparison. Same shape, but big difference in quality of workmanship.

After comparing the marks on the two and looking at tardy again, even though I can't quite make out the town mark, this probably is what the seller says it is. The trouble with silver this old is that one sees so little of it.
