A few questions and observations:

- a picture or description of the item would encourage people to venture an opinion on the mark
- you say the mark is on silver candlesticks; are you sure they aren't silverplated?

You items are most likely silverplated alpacca from the large Swedish manufacturer C.G. Hallberg. Alpacca is basically a type of whitemetal with nickel content. You can find earlier discussions of this metal by using the forum's SEARCH function.

I recall reading a claim that items marked 'ALP' may be just that i.e. alpacca without silverplating and Swedish silverplated holloware seems generally to be marked 'NS'; so I don't know. If you can, please, post a picture of an entire stick. That might help clear up any remaining questions.
