Hi,

I'm very new to this & I am hoping for some help.

I'm looking at buying a sterling (?) dish that is shell shaped. It is marked "QUEEN VICTORIA" in upper case, & has above it what looks like a royal crest of 2 lions facing each other, & a crown above. It has no other markings aside from this.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Sorry but the technology beat me with trying to post a photo.
Thanks in advance,
carleen

carleen:

Is the photo of the mark posted by T-Bird-Art the same as the one on the dish you asked about?

It is a mark of Dodge, Inc. of Los Angeles, California. They were listed in city directories (Chicago, Dallas, L.A., Miami, and Newark) from the 1940's to at least 1975. I do not know if they are still active. They appear to be a company who sold only to wholesalers. They offered both sterling and silverplated wares.

If your dish isn't marked "sterling", it is silverplate.

Is the dish new?

Notice the "D" in the shield. D is for Dodge.
