I recently acquired a old silver plate creamer.

On the bottom it is stamped with a circle with the words EAGLE SILVER PLATE CO. and a picture of an eagle sitting on a branch. The head of the eagle looks very familiar to some eagle heads stamped on old Forbes silver plate. Any help to identify the maker would be greatly appreciated. The creamer is 5" high and has what appears to be a feathers sculpted on top and bottom of handle. I was not able to find any information on the Eagle Silver Plate Co.

Silver plate makers don't seem to be as well researched and documented as silver makers. In a quick web search I did find a pickle castor with ruby insert made by this company around the turn of the century or so. Here is the item:

Cranberry Glass and Silver Plate Pickle

A cranberry pickle castor, thumbprint glass has enameled white and yellow daisies with green leaves and gold highlights, rests in scroll work silver plated frame marked "Eagle Silver Plate Co.", has lid and tongs, 11 "t. Condition: minor roughness around rim, minor wear to plating.

I was just searching for information on a pickle castor I have which is marked Eagle S.P. company. It was given to my Grandmother in about 1908 in Ontario.

Here is the image if it works OK.
This looks similar to the one in the previous post.

One of the limitations of silverplate research is that the name that is marked on a piece may not be that of the maker. It can represent the seller, a selling program, a company in another line of business. For example: cream of rye silver was not made by c of r. Oneida is the most likely candidate. It was however sold by a cereal company under their own name. My guess would be that looking for a retailer who used an eagle symbol would be more fruitful than trying to figure out who eagle silver was. Once an eagle retailer or system is found, then a search for the maker can begin.
