I have a fork marked "White Rock Silver" and a knife (solid handle, blunt) with a large blade stamp of "Montana Silver" with a pick & shovel hallmark between the words. Can anyone tell me anything about these companies?

Thanks, Chris

The pick and shovel mark, usually seen with the letters E J T, was the mark of the E.J. Towle Mfg. Co. of Seattle around 1938 (not to be confused with Towle Silversmiths of Newburyport, MA which goes back to the 17th century). Trade names like Indian Silver, Nevada Silver and others referred to metal alloys which look vaguely like silver, but contain none and sound exotic, connoting the American west and the famous Comstock Lode.
