Got a fork in a lot of flatware. It was marked Egyptian Silver. Is this like German Silver, Brazilian Silver? Just not silver at all?

I was in Cairo about 8 months ago. Marking of gold and silver there tends to be focussed mainly on the local market needs, with gold being the really big thing and silver being of limited interest. Most of the gold I saw was 18K, but most of the silver tended to be just .800 which seemed to match the average Egyptian's priorities on precious metals. I'm sure the term "Egyptian silver" could be used to mean pretty much anything in the international market, but in Egypt it tends to mean .800 silver.

ty Kimo...It is a nice enough fork and any information is appreciated. Have a Jerusalem Silver cross marked 950. Having researched all I have found are conflicting information. Some say it is made in Jerusalem, some say it is marked such for it being a Crusaders cross. Any chance you or anyone else knows the answer to that one?

Eyptian silver is probably a trade name for a kind of nickle steel. It most likely is like Brazilian, Utah etc.

Why would silver made in Egypt be marked in English? The Eygptians have their own language and alphabet.
