Hello,

My name is Kathleen O'Neil and I have collected sterling silver (and some silverplate) American and Canadian souvenir spoons for over 40 years. I am in the process of writing a book on the history of these spoons and their marks. I currently have the information on the marks for approximately 200 manufactures and retailers along with photographs of 98% or so of their marks (the rest are illustrated with drawings). This doesn't include the information I've collected on silverplate and white metal souvenir spoon marks... as an aside I can answer an old question on this forum. Pearl Silver is a name-mark used on white metal (no silver content at all) spoons (and other things) made by the Robbins Co.

If anyone out there has catalogs (other than the Watson & Newell 1910 and the Paye & Baker 1908) I would love to see scans and/or PDF's for my research.

Also if anyone has ads from the 1890's for Canadian souvenir spoons I'd love to see them! Information on Canadian spoons is incredibly hard to obtain. Very little has been written on them and Pack's book leaves a lot out!

If anyone has questions about marks or souvenir spoons in general I will gladly attempt to answer them.

Kathleen

Welcome to the forum Kathleen and thank you for the lovely introduction! You have found one of the best places on the internet to share with others who share your interest in the history and research of silver. Thank you for your kind offer to contribute your knowledge to others here on the forum.

I wish I had some of the materials you mention but hopefully there are others here who might have something to help you.

I very much look forward to your participation here.
