I'm Dick Marti, a book dealer in south Georgia. I don't know anything about silver, so I have come here to find out something about some silver items I bought at the flea market.

I bought a set of 3 silver item at a flea market. All three are marked "Meriden B. Company" and there are marked with a scale inside a shield and the number "99". Two of the three items are marked "quadruple". My questions are these:

  1. what does the 99 indicate?
  2. How does one determine when these were made?
  3. Where can one go to determine the value if that is not permitted to be asked here?

[As per the yellow box at the start of this page:

  • What is your interests in silver?
  • And why you are posting? (Are you doing business research?)
As mentioned in the Guidelines we don't discuss values. This might help: Appraisals - What is it worth?]
