I would like to ask members if you have seen enamel like that decorating these demitasse spoons made by Peer Smed, dating to 1929-1943, in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. These beautifully imitate cabochons of veined stone. I wonder if this was a popular trend. If you have seen similar decoration by Smed or other silversmiths of the period and know how this effect was accomplished, please share info on this topic. I also find it interesting to see this accent of color and wonder if these were a special commission. These are the only examples of enameled silver I've seen so far by Smed. But I'm curious to know if there is more in this vein.

We've seen these before, and don't think they're special orders. Here's one:

It's small -- 4-1/8" L. And sort of unusual for Smed. But we've never seen a Smed piece we didn't like.
