I bought this not knowing what it is from someone who sold it not knowing what it was either.

Hey, I needed one of these....uh????

So what is it?

It's about 2.5" tall and is very soft silver & what I think is horn or bone- not plastic or ceramic for sure & I pray it is not ivory. The craftsmanship is crude & it has seen better days, but looks a lot better than it did when I got it. It has 2 loops so I assume it can be put on a chain to suspend from a belt or necklace & the cap opens & closes.

I am guessing it's a snuff bottle?

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone else if you know for sure or have an idea when and where it is from- no markings.
