Hello All,

Glad to be here!

I am a metal detector hobbyist and I wanted to reply to your post. J. D. Anderson

I just dug a portion of a handle marked by J.D. Anderson and bearing the New Orleans city mark. There must be other surviving examples from his short years in New Orleans somewhere--but at least someone who is searching for his name will see this posting.

Thank you for the great information on Anderson. I wish this silver utensil was complete--but I may find more of it in the field in the future.

Best Wishes,

William

Thanks Buckle boy for the picture of what you found. That must be rewarding to find things like this with a metal detector.

Scott, Those are really nice spoons from New Orleans that really have a French shoulder look with what I think of as French bowl. The extended tip of the bowl seems to be characteristic of the French style.
