Hello All: New member to your forum here. Growing up my family appreciated antiques and old family heirlooms. Mom had a cabinet full of silver pieces and several sets of flatware that always intrigued me. As a youngster, I remember helping Mom polish the sterling for special occasions. Thankfully, My children have embraced antiques and value of old craftsmanship. At birth my Daughter was given a sterling baby cup almost identical to the one I have posted. She is excepting her first born, and my first grandchild, in just a few weeks. I would like to continue the baby cup tradition and possible purchase the cup pictured. Not having much knowledge of sterling restoration, I would like to hear from the more informative as to whether this piece can be brought back to it's original luster. This Lunt cup is new old stock but as you see it does come with some tarnish built in. I would hate to purchase this item only to find it can not be fully restored. Any and all thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards

Sorry for the spelling in the thread title- I can not edit it-

Welcome to the Silver Salon Forums.

Seeing the "maker's mark" and any others marks would be helpful.

In your photo it looks like there is silver-plating missing.

Thank you for looking Scott- I have seen spoons from this Lunt ABC collection as well. They are all marked Sterling to.

Sweet cup!

I think it just has a little tarnish that can be polished away. My favorite polish is Herman's, which is very gentle. It can be ordered online--or search these forums, there have been many threads about polishing.

Or if you plan to have the cup engraved, the jeweler who does the engraving can also polish it so it looks new.

Congratulations on your soon-to-be grandchild!!!

Polly- Thanks for the push. I own it along with the matching spoon. I ordered the polish you suggested and so I'm looking forward to bringing back the luster.
