I am seeking information or opinions regarding these unusual candle holders I have just posted a photo of. No marks. They are hand made and silver plated. My impression is they are from Mexico or Latin America. The decorative elements on the sides remind me of corn stalks. There are spots where the plating has been worn away with polishing, indicating there is some age to these. Any ideas are welcome.

I think these are your candlesticks. After you put your pictures into the album, copy the BBCode into your post.

It is very hard to say much about these other than they are interesting and appear to be hand made by an individual, likely in a small workshop and perhaps somewhere around Mexico, Central America or even the American southwest. They are a rather easy to make design being made by cutting a thick sheet of brass and soldering the parts together then silver plating the result. The wearing through of the silver indicates use and overly agressive polishing. Age may or may not be much of a factor since a thin plating job can also result in wear-through rather quickly. I do not think these are new, but I would not want to even guess whether they are a few decades or more in age. The simple design does not tell much about their age. All of that aside, I think they are nice and I hope you use them on your dining table regularly.
