Hello Everyone!
It’s been quite some time since I’ve had anything to post about so here goes.

1.The Elongated Sterling pierced Ornament is marked 925 on the top where you’d put a hanger to hang it. I couldn’t get a clear pic. I believe it once had hallmarks which I was unable to truly lift tonight nor could I get a clear pic of it for some reason.

2. Round cage like Sterling Ornament marked Theodore B Starr/ George A. Henckel mark with New York, Sterling, 941.
This interesting piece comes apart. The interior ball is wooden with possibly some fabric packing and covered with a burgundy velvet. I can’t figure out if it’s a Christmas ornament, though? Thoughts? It’s heavy due to the wooden interior.

Being such a fan of unusual Sterling, I bought both! Now, I’m curious if you’ve seen anything like them before or maybe have one like them and if you think they are ornaments and if not, what are they?

Thanks as always,
Ringboxlady

The ball looks like it could be a pin cushion.

They certainly would make nice ornaments for a Christmas tree. I have several like your elongated one that are made from glass rather that silver. The ball would make a great pinball if the red velvet was filled with emery; but with the wood center it would made a better ornament.
It is easy to get attracted to interesting shiny things.

Thanks June and ahwt for your responses! My thoughts never did go to a pin cushion because of the hanger, although it’s a good thought. With the ball being made of wood and some other material I’m not familiar with, I’m just not sure what it is but it’s going to be an ornament until I find out differently, 😂. The round one is marked so jive where the elongated pierce item is marked but I just can’t make it out or take a good enough picture. I’ll try again when I have my new light. I’m very excited about these shiny baubles and will post marks soon! Thanks again for responding!

A pin cushion or ball that has a ring would hang on a chatelaine.

Indeed, but this ball is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. I think it’s a tad too large for a chatelaine?? I have a little Sterling topped strawberry shaped emery which is perfect size for a chatelaine! This is just too large for that purpose! Keep suggesting, and hopefully, someone will come up with the perfect answer! Thanks!!!

My thought is they are likely simply attractive Christmas ornaments but given their reticulation I suppose they could be meant to have a few drops of pine oil or maybe peppermint oil or such put in their interiors to give off pleasant Christmas time fragrances?
