Listed in the 1850 U S Federal Census for Oswego, New York as a goldsmith with an fourteen year old Augustus Ford listed as the last person in his household as though he might not have been Asa's own child or someone missed in the first accounting of the children. Augustus is listed as a goldsmith also.

Listed in the 1860 U S Federal Census for Oswego, New York as a watchmaker with a twenty-two year old Walter Ford who is also out of order from Asa's other children. Walter is listed as a watchmaker.

Augustus and Walter both appear in the 1850 U S Federal Census for Hounsfield, New York in what appears to be their parents household. Augustus is listed as a jeweler with his father William who is listed as a carriage maker.

In the 1860 U S Federal Census for Freeport, Illinois Augustus is listed as a jeweler with his new young family, and his father William is in his own household in Freeport and also listed as a jeweler.
