Squire T Butler is listed in 1850 and later U S Federal Census's as follows:

-1850 Catharine, New York, watchmaker

-1860 Catharine, New York, jeweller

-1870 Lafayette, Missouri, farmer

-1880 Deadwood, Dakota Territory, jeweler

-1900 Lafayette, Missouri, farmer

In the "History of Dakota Territory" by George W. Kingsbury, Vol. IV (1915), a brief biography of George M Butler who was one of Squire T Butler's sons describes how in 1890 in Deadwood George had purchased his father's mercantile interests and conducted the business,manufacturing and repairing jewelry and also selling jewelry, watches, clocks and optical goods.

George M Butler's U S Federal Census listings from 1900 to 1930 are as follows:

-1900 Deadwood, South Dakota, Proprietor of a jewelry store

-1910 Deadwood, South Dakota, jeweler and watchmaker

-1920 Deadwood, South Dakota, jeweler

-1930 Deadwood, South Dakota, retail jewelry
