I really like the way this forum combines all the original research in one place. It will be very searchable.

Bascal, could you explain just how you come up with all this historical information? Do you have access to old newspapers and city directories? Always wondered how you did so much original research so quickly.

Most if not all of the methods or resources available to me have been explained in previous posts, but to recap a little, ancestry.com, google books and (of course google in general), internet archives, wev's family tree, a few meager references of my own and a compulsive nature is about all that is available to me.

Choosing effective search terms, sticking with practices that work while searching and maybe more than anything practice and persistance have worked out well for me.

As a side note, the internet archives site can be very "sticky," so if you share this problem just bear with them. Their books are phenomenal. It's almost like having an original copy in front of you.

Again as an aside, ancestry.com can be especially difficult to maneuver. More often than not it is much more art than science to make use of this site's information. However, little by little, work around methods have arisen. There are many people that can do much more with ancestry.com than I, but fortunately with again practice and persistance my competance has improved.

Bascall, This is great to have all your work in one location, your attention to detail is what makes all this such a great resource, now and for the future.

Bascall, I would like to add my thanks for your pulling together such a great resource. It is nice to know that it will be in one place to search. Thank you.
