![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm new, and I have no idea what I'm doing, but when I tried to post in another forum, it said I couldn't. Gee, and I had some trademark information for them too! I'm new here, but not to boards-forums etc. So hi all, and tell me which forums I can post in. I was in general before. I think Thank you, ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I did read the one, but forgot the other one. Sorry. I just wanted to share the information about what I believe are Trademarks. You can pass it on if you want to. E & J Bass D within a diamond is listed as Deitsch Bros. Ref: From 1915 Trademarks book. Bye ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Sheila and welcome to the forum. Thank you for sharing this information to Jersey's question on the trademarks. Are you a silver or silverplate collector, or both? I hope you will continue to participate here and both share your knowledge and ask questions when you have them. [This message has been edited by Kimo (edited 09-05-2007).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you for the welcome. I only collect a small amount of silver, however, I do collect watches, (lots) and many of them are silver or coin. I look for early makers marks, and trademarks, and have actually collected more books on marks and silver than silver itself!!! I'm always looking for any silver items with the name LISSAUER on them. I have only seen a few pieces over the last 5 years, they seldom show up on the net anywhere. I did just miss 2 ebay auctions of them, First I've seen in years too!!! I also have some seldom seen, small books on American Silversmiths and they are listed by State. I enjoy researching, and digging for hard to find information about Silver, Gold, Watches, and of course, Lissauer. If you find any, I am interested. Have a beautiful day! ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We have a whole range of people who visit and post here on the forum, including some world class experts who are the authors of some of the reference books. Sometimes it takes some patience for a posting to get a response but it can be worth the wait which you will see as you browse through the postings here. I am not familiar with the name Lissauer. Is this the name of a particular silver smith or is it a company? What is the general timeframe? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's the name of a Jeweler from about 1850-1906, however there are later items also. Some may be earlier too. I have an ongoing research paper about the Jeweler and his items. I have collected 8 of the 10 KNOWN watches he sold. They are private label watches, meaning they were marked special just for him, with his trademark in 3 places on the watch, and his watch cases are almost always Solid Gold. I have only one small Silver (nut?) bowl in sterling, that is his, and 2 forks with his name. However, I'm not sure of the silver content on those. The bowl is very fancy, very "busy" the forks are quite different, very sparce. I will post some pictures as soon as I get them on the net. I also have all of the places he lived, and worked, and several of his magazines from the mid 1800's with many silver and gold articles. He was a famous man in his day, and was even honored with ALL of the Jewelry shops closing for his funeral! So, anything Silver that has Lissauer on it, is of great interest to me. Sorry for the long answer, but this is the first time I have ever shared this information with anyone. I expect to submit the paper to the watch museum within a month, so ssshhhhh don't tell anyone!!! lolol ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sounds like an interesting jeweler who made a very small number of things. No wonder I have not heard of him before. Hopefully, someone here will have seen or heard of him and add a bit to this thread. Thanks for the information and I'm sure we will all look forward to seeing some of his work when you can post some photos. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() OOPS, Let me explain. He was a huge Jeweler, and the number of watches I purchased, were only a few that are like the ones I have, (very rare in the watch world) he sold thousands and thousands of others watches. He sold a huge amount of Silver, and of all kinds. His items are of Solid Sterling Silver, Coin Silver, and a small amount of Silver Plate. I'm sorry for leaving out a lot of the details, but this has been an ongoing research, and I have not shared the results with any of the collectors yet. I don't have quite enough about the Silver he sold, and that has been my delay, although I do have some information on the items in his inventory. I hope to gain a little more information about the Silver he sold, and then be able to finish up my paper. It's fine the way it is for Watch Collectors, however, I really wanted to include the Silver items he sold too. I have a couple of pictures on the net now, and will post the pictures as soon as I get two more on the page to link here. He is indeed hard to find, but he is out there. Since my mom had heart surgery yesterday, I have been too busy to post, but I will be back later to post the pictures. Sure wish I could find another Silver piece like the one I have. It would make my day. Bless, IP: Logged |
