Can anyone recommend a source for ivory to replace missing insulators? I have one pot in an 1870's Gorham set that had the ivory replaced (badly) with wood. My silver guy will carve the replacement but his sources seem to have dried up. Something 5/8" in diameter and 1 1/2" in length would be perfect. And am I correct that the originals would most likely have been African elephant ivory and it is now legal to buy that? Thanks!

Hi Try Mammoth or mastadon ivory on ebay. They find it up in Alaska frozen in the permafrost. Legal "fossil" ivory !
