As a fairly new convert to silver collecting, other than eBay, I'm not sure where to find the silver I like. I will be visiting the US this summer (after August 16th)and will be in PA, CT, and CA (central coast). My favorites are the florals & Art Nouveau pieces designed before 1910. I won't have a lot of time to look, so if anyone knows about any shows or particular areas to look I would appreciate any info.

For CT & PA:

Start with a copy of the Antiques & Art Weekly (a.k.a., The Bee). Every week, the Bee prints a comprehensive list of shows and auctions (usually of their advertisers and there are many). To find out more about The Bee click here.

You should also investigate the New England Antiques Journal. Click here.

For Ca:

We haven't done a lot on the west coast so maybe someone else would tackle this part.

Generally:

This is what we often find is best. When you know your stops, contact the local chamber of commerce about antiquing in the area. When you visit the first quality shop or a multi dealer shop, ask about where you should visit to find your specific interest. Most often these shops will have guides and maps to other dealers in the area.

If you have trouble with the local chamber of commerce, start with the yellow pages.

Be sure to let us know about your discoveries.
