Looking for a silver testing solution simply called Solution B that turns sterling robins egg blue when scratched and solution is applied. It came in a test kit and I can't find it anywhere. An idea as to what chemical it is or where I can find it? I find current solutions in test kits difficult to read.

I have never heard of "Solution B", but 18K gold testing acid turns a light opaque blue on sterling. So I assume "Solution B" is just somebody's marketing ploy for ordinary 18K acid.

I can't tell from your question if you are scratching a mark onto the silver itself or not. It is less damaging to rub the silver piece on a touchstone and test the rubbing than to file/scratch the silver piece itself.

Specific Gravity Testing for Precious Metals & Gems is a non-destructive method for testing stand alone objects. I have never done this, but it does seem a straightforward way of determining the content of silver.

Please don't use acid directly on silver...
