I wish there was an "Auto Extend" feature for antique listings on the big "online auction site". This would stop snipe biding and make it more like there was a real auctioneer was holding the hammer.

The few sites I have found that do "Auto Extend" don't seem to have the traffic or quality antique silver listings.

Does anyone have anything to recommend?

I expect the Big Online Auction House doesn't have that feature because they think it would reduce bidding in the long run, because bidders wouldn't feel confident of getting bargains.

Polly,

You might be correct.

But then the bidder shouldn't bid more than they consider a bargain price. Most often there is a wait & see with no bid. And then there is after the auction contact with a very low ball offer. This doesn't get a fair market price/offer.

Auctions with active real time participants set the environment to determine the fair market price. An online auction with "Auto Extend" would be more life like.

Sniping is unfeeling machine lowest pricing without consideration or a second to reconsider.

-------

I am wondering if there might be an interest in a targeted Silver Salon Forum Auction. I could investigate this if members would like the focus in an SSF auction to help de-accession their collections.

Is there interest?

Considering how few members post, I would worry that too few people would bid.
