Hello: I have picked up a very nice sterling ladle, but I am unable to figure out the hallmarks. I've looked through a number of books but I can't find anything like them. I will post a link to a picture of the marks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My first impression is Holland.

Yes! Thanks a lot. The markings denote silver and 925 content. Now if I could date the piece...
Anyone know where I could find out what the date letter represents?
Thanks again.

It seems there is limited detailed reference to Dutch silver marks in English language publications.
However, you could e-mail the Dutch Assay Office info@waarborg.nl with a photo. They are very friendly people, and speak excellent English.
The third mark from the top is that of the assay office (there were quite a number over time), so if you can sharpen up the photo or describe the precise details, they should be able to tell you where it was marked as well.
Do please let us know the results of your investigation!

Thanks. I have contacted them but they were unable to help me bacause of the poor quality of the photo. They did offer to send me their responsibility marks books for 70 Euros plus 30 Euros shipping. It is to pricy for me, unfortunately.

I am posting a new picture of the hallmarks. This is perhaps as best as I can get with my camera. If there was a letter in the duty mark it has worn off, but the date letter appears to be a "T" in fancy script. Does this help date the piece? Thanks

I am sure the maker's mark is for W. Tarner, Amsterdam. Date letter is indeed for 1893. As stated in an earlier reply, the standing lion means 925/000 silver alloy.
