I am trying to figure out who manufactured it and approx. when. I figured out it is German because it has the marks of crescent moon & crown silver followed by the number 835. But then, it is followed by what appeared to be the Star of David.
The order is: crescent moon/crown/835/Star of David.

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you.

Is it a real star of David or a plain 6-pointed star? If the latter, does it have a 'G' in the center?

After taking a closer look, it seems to be the latter, and it looks like it has a 'G' in the center.

That is the mark of 'Jakob Grimminger' in Schwäbisch Gmünd, a quite large enterprise. I don't have exact dates for it but it seems to have existed from the early part of the 20thC. into at least the 1960's, possibly a bit later.
If you post a picture of your item, someone may be able to make a guess at the period of manufacture.
