Danish maker information.
A silver paperknife of the Maersk Line Transatlantic/Far East Service prompted an email to the shipping company.
An overnight reply, received from Henning Morgen of Maersk Records Management Services, informed that the Maersk Shipping Service was introduced in 1947.
As part of the marketing effort the paper knife marked "S superimposed on H", "Sterling" and "Denmark" was produced.
The mark, "HS" within a double square is that of Horsens Soelvvarefabrik (Horsens is a town in Denmark, a center for production of silverware and Soelvvarefabrik is Danish for silver manufacture.)
As well, other paper knives were made by "WS" for W.S. Soerensen.
