Here are some small (11 cm length), dainty, filigree sugar tongs that I recently picked up.

Any opinions or guesses as to who, where and when for this post-1888 German piece? TIA!

There are long discussions on this forum how and with what equipment one should take fotos of silver and/or hallmarks.....

I can only guess: if it is a little flag, then it is the German firm: Doublina-Besteckfabrik; now: A. Wieder, successor of H. Lehn in Stade/Nether-Elbe
This type was en vogue between 1900 - 1940
If it is no flag, I do not know.
Hope that helps

Thanks, Sazikov. Yes, I suppose it may be a small flag, though at a somewhat strange angle. This piece, though not terribly old, is amazing in the amount of handwork involved. It is all built up from about 20 separate structural pieces, plus over a hundred individual filagree strips, all silver soldered together, yet with no breakage as of yet, even though some small base soldered junctions are subject to leveraged bending. One piece I will not subject to any further use. Sure don't make them like this anymore.
