Hi,

its the mark of the german company "F.W. Quist, Metallwarenfabrik" located at Esslingen.

They were founed 1866 by Jakob Schweizer, Friedrich Wilhelm Quist (1831-1903) and others. Later in 1890 Quist took over from the other shareholders and owned the company on his own.

They soon become famous for their plated silverware, not only indide Germany but also in many European countries as they did a lot of export work. They mostly produced luxury goods for representation purposes and not goods for the daily use. They continued their production until insolvency in 1981. The most important reasons are the strong competition by the German company "WMF" and the Italian company "Alessi" and for sure a indecisive product line.

Best regards
Alex
