I am trying to find the origin on this snuff box . There are two marks ,one on each edge of the lid . Does anybody have any ideas

Tardy International Hallmarks on Silver, 1985, shows a mark similar to the uppermost example above, on page 85, as a mark for imported articles in Belgium, 1831-1868. However, I can't say for sure that it's an exact match... Very close, though, if not.

Absolutely right: the upper mark is the Belgian silver import mark, 1831-1868. The lower mark looks to be the French second (.800) standard silver Minerva head in use after 1838, though Minerva is facing down. That would have your piece made 1838-68 in France and exported to Belgium. Check carefully for a lozenge-shaped French maker's mark.
