Hi, can any one help me figure out what a mark on a cobalt glass liner with a wonderful silver holder. the holder is marked with a 13 than under it is a capital script N and a script a with crown. I belive the A with crown is Paris, but haven't a clue what the other marks are. Can any one recommend a book of silver marks that is heavy on the rest of the world. English and American are easy Thanks christer

Those are pseudo marks, you wont find them in any book, or more exactly they are copies of marks you could find. The 13 is 13 loth or 13/16 the silver, the N is for Nurenberg. The A is Paris. These are 19th cent German, the work is usually cast fake repousse.

Boy, tough to hear that reply about something that you were obviously delighted with. Maybe we can all learn from it though. Here I am in the center of "French mark land" and I'd love to see a photo of the pseudo marks... it'd have fooled me. If it's pretty and I see interesting marks - I buy it and then come home and figure out what I have in terms of real or faux... If I cannot find the appropriate marks, then I just assume it's my novice research skills. So, I hold my breath, post it here and hope to learn something. I'd love to see a photo of the piece too.
