[01-0583]

Searching for information; Set of 12 small,(6 1/4") handmade silver spoons, hollow handles w/ symmetrical designs & finial caps. The handles "pinch" onto the bowl. There are very,VERY small markings on the bowl where the handle attaches.(I cannot make them out) Each spoon is very light in weight & varies slightly in size & design. Scans,(pictures) available upon request. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mike,

Mike,

The images help but are just not clear (closeup) enough. A good description of the marks might help.

I must be trying too hard to see something there, I can see a horse head, a duck shape, or perhaps 5's or 8's, is it the embossed area (background), or the center (raised) marks?.. I've looked at silver marks in books & I can't seem to find anything that even matches (unless I squint, then they all match)

Have you tried candleing the marks and then compare the different results, different spoons ware at different rates, and each spoon may reveal more of one mark than the other. I would candle all of them and see if comparing maight add additional detail...?

Candleing - Hold sil marks over a lit candle until blackened (not long), apply Scotch Tape and lift a reverse/ negitive image of the marks, then compare to each other...
