Hello,

I have a beautiful little plate with on the backside the hallmark Minerve 1 and the maker which I don't know.

on the same place as te minerve but on the front is it looks like a little monogram???

it is of the hallmark minerve is put at the same time with a double sort of mark, minerve on the one side and the little monogram? on the other side.

Can anyone help with this please?

The plate has a diameter from 12cm.

You are correct. When the Minerva was stamped, the article was rested on a support which was itself engraved with an intricate pattern (of insects), so both marks went on at once. This was to make faking/forging hallmarks more difficult. If you can post a clearer image of the maker's mark, someone may recognise it.

The makers mark is very obscured through wear. Would you take a closer look at it and and verify if the animal in the lozenge is a horse, cow, Pegasus or some other creature? Is it at all possible to make out the first partner's initial on the lefrt side of the lozenge?

I attempted to identify the maker through the Ministry of Culture data base with only "& G" and Cheval (if the image is really of a horse at all and found no matches.
