Good Morning,

I also have a knife with the marks on the blade WH a women's head with the number 3 and a small w the last mark is in a circle that I can't read.

Taking a picture of the marks with my camera doesn't help. I can explained the marks .

Welcome to the forums.

Photos are best. If you can't get a good photos of the marks then please post a drawing. The cartouche around a mark can be
significant so be sure to include a marks border.

To get things started... are either of these similar?

Neither of the them are close but I did find the same mark that's on the spoon at at a web site .

It's the same mark that's on the spoon with the lady look under Austrian embossed dish.

I will try and make a drawing of the marks but it said the mark was Austria Hungry Pest 1872-1922 Silver smith SI. Thedish. I also found 5 lobed Minerva's head P and the number 3 which was also Austrian on another site and it looks like the one that is on the knife.

Thank you so much.

Actually the one on the right is the very mark that you show the photo of; only the '3' is lost in the dark. It does point to the 'Pest' half of Budapest.
Off the top of my head I'd also say that the four leaf clover that you mention is probably the mark of the maker (A. Sturm, Vienna).

This version of the mark with Minerva was the official stamp for Austrian - Hungarian silver. The number 3 indicates the purity (1=92.5%, 2=90%, 3=83.5% and 4=80%). The letter indicates the place, P for Pest (modern Budapest). I believe W indicates Wien (Vienna).

Like Arg(um)entum, I am a little confused as to which is which. If I am correct in the number 3, I would be surprised to see this with an 800 mark for 80% silver.

The maker is represented by his initials in the case of JW and probably WH.

Patrick, I think there is a mix here: some made before 1925(?),and some after; some from Pest, some from Vienna. With a careful listing of the items and marks we may be able to figure it out.

Also, the fineness series (according to my modest books) go 950,900,800,750. So the '3' is for 800.
