Morning all;

Well AI have 3 questions

  1. I have a cutlery set stamped WMF 90.
    What does this mean?
  2. Can anyone tell me who was Ravinet Denfert?
    I think I spelled it right!
  3. I have 3 spoons and a ladle with the same mark but only one is clear enough to read,the first mark looks like a flower head punched into the metal,then the number 67 in a square, after that there is an oblong with the letters? or name, P then 3 tiny symbols that I can't make out then the name? RUOLZ? After that there is a final square with a set of scales in it.
Whoosh I know its a lot to ask this early in the morning but any help will be appreciated.

Thanks guys & girls in advance

WMF stands for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik - a large company in Germany. The 90 after it indicates is silverplated, not silver.

Ravinet d'Enfert was an important Paris-based company working in both silver and silverplate. This is a computer-generated translation of a German article - hence the syntax! :
"1882 transferred Louis Ravinet d'Enfert in the year 1845 of E. Tonnelier to of Paris created company for silvering and gilding products of other workshops. The company worked with large success. 1891 became Charles d'Enfert partner, and the company received the name Ravinet d'Enfert. The company constantly expanded and developed a high level of the gold forging art. The exhibitions, in which them participated, brought great honors: Gold medals on the world exhibitions in Lyon 1894 and in Brussels 1897 and 1954. The second highest honor after the Grand Prix, an honour diploma, received the company on that to Paris world exhibition 1937."

French inventor, Henri-Catherine, Count of Ruolz, Montchal, music composer and chemist, was born in Paris in 1809 and died in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1887. He worked extensively on silverplating techniques taking out a number of patents including one for a nickel-based white metal alloy.
The set of scales may indicate your spoons were made by Christofle, a poineer of French silverplate.
