I have a Victorian box with hallmarked container lids that match identically in color the brass hinges of the box. The date is 1877-78 and the surfaces of the lids are up to 3 inches in diameter. adelapt Posts: 418 Registered: May 2003	posted 12-16-2004 02:22 PM I'm not familiar with "dutch gold", however, have you considered that the brass fittings of the box may have been (gold) gilded originally? That could explain the similarity. IP: Logged

I wonder if that is uncommon. Thanks so much for your input! Dutch gold (schlag) is an alloy of copper and brass. IP: Logged
