Hi friends,

I was given a gift of a silver bowl from friends in Munich, Germany a couple of years' ago.

I've had difficulties in photographing the marks in the past, but now have something which is, I think, passable for someone who might recognize them. My suspicion, on account of the condition and style is that it is modern (like in the last 10 years); it was possibly bought new.

Any help in identifying the markings would be appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated in the identification.

Kind Rgds,

TBC

Your top photo appears to be upside down, but I'm pretty certain it is a relatively recent Italian mark. 800 is the silver content (80% pure silver) while the other mark should have a star, a number (for the maker) and a two-letter code (for the city or region).

Patrick,

Very many thanks for your response. Yes, I daresay the hallmark is upsidedown!! Sorry - it was completley new to me! It ties in with a European purchase in Munich.

Kindest Regards,
