Indonesian silver is also known as djokja silver, perhaps I've to use another worth for it using the search function. Until now I didn't found a topic about this 800 stamped alloy silver. I've only five teaspoons with wajang decoration, steel is made with a bamboo motif and the bowl has also a kind of leaf motif.

The wajang (handle)motif is engraved at the front and back side. The bowls are decorated (engraved)only at the front side.

The teaspoons are all marked with 800. Other spoons with research, I found a factory mark, at most of them are standing two letters. For instance AK etc. I've noticed that in Indonesia they also plate their patterns, because after cleaning a tea strainer today the thin silver plate disappeared and a good red copper shined after cleaning it nearly totally.

The fact that there wasn't find a 800 silver mark was correct.

Can somebody please inform me which silver alloys exist in Indonesian and because it is a very long group of islands is there a lot of different design/patterns for instance in combination with wajang motifs?

Inside the bowl there is a figure 5 pointed star and the little holes in the strainer are different sized.

I don't now if this pattern is rather old or if it is still made for export/tourism
now a days?

The size of the tea strainer length about 6 inches and the tea spoons are about 4 inches long.

It's nice when you find in two different places and two different shops patterns which are rather the same.

Silverhunter, if you search under the variant spelling Yogya you'll find a few relevant threads. There's a nice book, English title Yogya Silver: Renewal of a Javanese Handicraft, that you might want to have; it was published in Amsterdam by KIT Publishers, so there's probably an edition in Dutch as well. It's really a wonderful little book.

According to that, the usual standard 1930s and later is .800; before that the Dutch standards were used. I have also seen the sterling standard used.

I would say your pieces are fairly recent, probably 1970s or so, and most likely for the tourist trade. The handle end is a traditional figure that I can't remember the name of, also often seen in shadow-puppets.

Nice examples!

Thanks a lot FWG for your reaction and advise and explanation. The only worth for the shadow puppet is called Wajang puppets, if I'm right of course. About the date it is of course not so old, but it is nice to collect slowly some pieces from countries far away. There is also a big supply for Indonesian silver and swords (dutch name : "krissen") also with silver decoration etc. at the second hand markets.

I will try your yogya advise for more research at this side!
