This is in reply to Wilkens and Buccellati connection?

In 1927, the Bremen company M. H. Wilkens & Söhne AG was financially involved in Michelangelo Clementi & Cie./Casalecchio which was founded in 1912 with Bremen technology and know-how by Wilkens - and the Wilkens' hallmark (silver strike) does prove this.

I did give the same information to the today Bremen Wilkens company as well as to Clementi Fabbrica Argenteria s.r.l..

For further information on Wilkens company history, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you so much for clearing up this mystery.

As you mentioned, part of the maker's mark used for the Clementi factory is the same as that used by Wilkens. Also, I recently saw another pattern identified as Wilkens which looks identical to one made by Clementi, so your recent posting is particularly timely.

By the way, what is your source for this information on the connection between Wilkens and the Clementi factory? I'd love to read the original source material if it is available.

The information goes back to my own research on behalf of Wilkens' company history.

I got access to the files in Bremen National Archives. M. H. Wilkens & Söhne became a stock corporation (AG) in 1917 since when their annual report is accessible. In 1917, Wilkens is registered in the company registry Achim (near Bremen)as being located in Hamburg, Bremen, Casalecchio. In 1927, they state being limited partners of M. H. Wilkens & Söhne, Hamburg - Guglielmo Haufler, Milano -Michelangelo Clementi & Cie, Casalecchio - Bremer Silberwaren AG, Bremen. In 1886, the silver strike was registered as a Wilkens trade mark (printed information given 1985 for the annual general meeting).

Further details might follow in the course of my research.

How did you become interested in the history of the Wilkens company? Do you collect Wilkens silver?

I am interested in any information about the Wilkens' silverware factory with a view to future publishing.

If you have any information that you think might be of value for me, please share.
