I am seeking any and all information on the famous London silver smith company Sampson Mordan. I am particularly interested in Company history, publications, as it pertains to their various products (match safes, mechanical pencils, scent bottles, etc.) The IMSA (International Match Safe Association) will hold its annual meeting in Washington next month (check the web site) and one topic will be Sampson Mordan examples of fine metal and enameled metal match safes. John Culme's Directory of Gold & Silversmiths Jewellers & Allied Traders 1838-1914 gives quite a lengthy biography of S.Mordan & Co. Ltd. The chronology of the firm is as follows:

? Sampson Mordan 1815-1822/23
S. Mordan & Co. 1822/23-1898
S. Mordan & Co Ltd 1898-1941
L.G. Sloan Ltd sole distributing agents 1933-1941
Patents sold to Edward Baker after 1941

Mr. Culme indicates that the most recent and most detailed account of the firm's history can be found in Edward Eldred's Sampson Mordan & Co., an illustrated booklet published in 1986.
