I have ll old forks with ivory handles. at the base of the tine are several stamps in the silver or silverplate: W.Y....then a stamp I can't decipher...then a lion walking leftward...then a T. Can anyone help me identify these marks?

The lion passant walking left would suggest the silver is British. The unidentifiable mark may be a town mark (anchor, crown, etc.), and I am guessing the letter is a date mark. Without knowing the town though, it would be hard to look up the date letter.
Can you post a photo?

Hi,

I's agree with Tom Macait's analysis; a lion walking left indicates a UK piece at a guess, I'd plumb for London (on volume alone). If it is a capital "T", then is could be 1954-55. Might the first mark be a leopard's head? A photo could help?

My guess would be Sheffield, for which an upper case T would be 1961 (with a crown as the town mark) or 1993 (with a York rose as the town mark). WY is William Yates Ltd.
