[26-0453] I have an English silver jug chineserie style, hallmarked for London 1848. A very fine piece with maker mark JA over G? (see image). I cannot find nothing of similar. Is there anyone that can help me? IP: Logged |

The makers are Joseph & George Angell. The date is actually 1846/1847. Phil IP: Logged |

Thank you phil, I cannot find the reference of this mark on the old and new jackson halmark edictions. Can you tell me in which publication is reported this mark? Giovanni IP: Logged |

One referennce is Anthony Culme's Directory of Gold & Silversmiths Jewellers & Allied Trades 1838-1914, which is intended to pick up where Grimwade's London Goldsmiths 1697-1837leaves off (This mark was entered in 1844). These works are more comprehensive than Jackson, which is not intended to include marks for all registered goldsmiths. IP: Logged |
