Hello all.

First post.

URLs below should link to photos of hallmarks on three British sterling collectible spoons. (If URLs don't work, please treat this as a test post and disregard.)

Seeking advice on whether I've interpreted the marks correctly, especially the year marks.

Many thanks,
-LB

Town mark = Birmingham; date mark = Block P (1940?); makers mark = ??

Town mark = London; date mark = Block T (1894?? or 1954??)

Town mark = London; date mark = Gothic R (1852??)

Hi

Picture 1: Agreed / Maker unknown (unusual mark)

Picture 2: 1894 / Unknown (the "full stop" rules out Moses Emmanuel)

Picture 3: Agreed / Charles Boyton

Cheers

Waylander

Thank you for the two prompt replies!

PV and Waylander: I had seen the BBLD? (unsure of the last letter) mark before but did not know the maker.

Waylander: I "googled" but can't find the meaning of "full stop" in relation to sterling. Would you kindly elaborate for this novice?

Thanks again. I'll try to post pictures of the entire spoons tonight.

Good evening all,

Thank you for the earlier help with hallmarks and for guidance on registration, picture size, etc.

I've now registered. And if I've done it correctly, the URL below should bring up a smaller-than-490-pixels image of the three spoons you helped me identify.

The apostle spoon is HM'd London, Block T (1894), maker MF or ME, hard to distinguish.

The racquet & ball spoon is HM'd Birmingham, Block P (1940), maker Barker Bros. Ltd (thanks Patrick!). I think this a charming piece.

Finally, the salt spoon is HM'd London, Gothic R (1852), makers mark CB (Charles Boynton; thanks Waylander!). The finial has been engraved with an old English G.

None of these pieces belongs to me (yet); I am helping a friend research some inherited pieces. I am very drawn to the apostle spoon and the salt spoon and may have to make them the basis for a new collecting hobby.

Many thanks
-LB "Bagham"
