I have an eperne. I do not know origin, but it is very ornate. It's metal (Silver or silver plate) with cut crystal bowls.
On the bottom are hallmarks - "WH", "&", "S", a very fancy "B", a very fancy "P" and the last is a WP with an A under those letters. another hallmark is "No 88877" There is printing that says " Hard Soldered and the number "3".

Can someone tell me if this is silver or plate, who made it and what country and the year?

Thank you

My guess is William Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, England. I'm pretty certain it's silverplate - could the elaborate BP be EP, electro-plate, if not Brittania plate is another possibility. If you can post photos of the piece and the marks someone may be able to confirm this and provide a date.
